Interesting to see him recommending a one to ten ratio of protein to carbs!

Yes! If in a very stressed state. Arguably, this is because you need to start clearing the FFAs, AAs, ketones, etc., or provide glucose in the first place. Sufficient micronutrients for the macros to be used are needed.

I’ve found there tend to be two types - those who waste organic acids in urine and those who circulate/ store.

Thank you for sharing this! Very valuable. I am also on the lowering oxalate journey and have wondered about Ray’s views on the gelatin to oxalate thing as well as the intense dumping from supplemental Bs (my problem is biotin, massive dumping with very small doses). Would love to learn more!

God bless,

Gillian

Hi Gillian,

Thank you for your comment!

Have you trialed the Bs individually to see which one is causing you to “dump”? I would also consider it’s not oxalate - I understand some groups are saying it is with specific Bs, but the crystals can be other things too.

With all supplements I suggest starting low, building slow, and drop dosing. If one has a negative response I take that as either the dose was too high, they need a cofactor, the fillers are an issue, or they don’t need that form, etc. currently.

Hello!

I had an OAT test that confirmed my suspicions with oxalates, also showed some B vitamin deficiencies and sulphur issues.

I am taking it super slow bc I am still nursing my son. I started small with the B’s but still needed to back off for now and will try again when he is weaned.

Thank you for that, I didn’t even think of the fillers. I will take that into consideration!!

:)

Hi Kathleen,

Do you have any comment on my experience using wild yam cream to increase progesterone? I believe it caused anxiety/panic attacks and the trigger seemed to be drinking black coffee in the evening. I had no previous anxiety or similar, however after the one panic attack I had almost constant shortness of breath, increased heart rate, and anxiety about not having enough breath or an oncoming panic attack. Even after stopping the use of the cream and no longer drinking coffee the symptoms remained for many months. I am now very nervous to try any form of progesterone supplement.

I realize this was directed to the author, but when I hear about a compound causing a sharp increase in anxiety I think two things: high serotonin and slow MAO-A metabolizer genetics. If that were the case I suspect cyproheptadine or benadryl would provide immediate relief.

I had a similar effect with a multi-B complex that contained b6. Had muscle weakness and neuropathy that went away when I stopped supplementing. Kaya of Fundamental Nourishment mentioned it could be a low b1 contributing to that reaction but the complex contained b6 as well. An email to LifeBlud (maker of the B supp) thought perhaps I simply don’t need extra B vitamins at this time. Cronometer tracking shows I’ve been hitting the RDA’s for all b-vitamins except folate. Still struggling with that one since I don’t consume a whole lots of veggies.

Wondering if that sort of B6 excess can also contribute to hair loss. It seems my shedding picked up again around the time I began using that supp but hasn’t slowed down yet since discontinuation.
